Turkey Chili with Aromatic Spice Blends' Moorish BBQ / Harissa / Mediterranean Blend: Simpler Recipe!

We had a fun and interactive cooking demo this past weekend at MOM's Organic Market in Waldorf where we made a simple yet party worthy Turkey chili and a summer sensational Cabbage slaw. Both were received very well by adults and children alike! Very grateful for all the support and positive feedback from both, the wonderful customers and amazing staff of MOM's Organic Market! Thank you!

This is how we made the chili (cabbage slaw recipe will be in the next blog):

Turkey Chili with Aromatic Spice Blends

Ingredients:

Turkey, ground, dark meat (can substitute with Chicken, Lamb or Beef) ; 1 lb; Onion, medium sized, 1 of any kind, chopped fine; Diced tomatoes from 1 large tomato or 1 small can; Aromatic Spice Blends Harissa, 2.5 to 3 tsp. (Moorish BBQ blend, or our Mediterranean Blend will give you a variation on flavors and will create a dish that is unique to different parts of the world, right in your kitchen); Lime juice (optional); Mint, Parsley or Cilantro as garnish, few sprigs washed and chopped fine. Grabanzo beans (Black, Red, Pinto, really any beans will taste right), 1 15 oz can, drained and rinsed. Salt to taste. Oil to Saute.

Method:

Heat 2 tablespoons of edible oil in a pan. Saute Onions until translucent. Add turkey meat, cook through and crumble as you cook it. No need to brown. Add Tomatoes and beans, stir. Add the spice blend of your choice. Stir and allow to simmer. Add Salt to taste, one cup of water and simmer until everything is cooked through. Sprinkle with herbs of your choice and a squeeze of lime juice and serve hot with rice or any kind of bread.

Alternatively, you can crumble some tortilla chips on the chili, add some chopped onion that is sprinkled with our Harissa Blend, some lime juice and salt to taste. You can also add some cheese and put it under the broiler until it melts. Enjoy!
